Job Description
The White House Internship Program (WHIP) functions as a premier public service leadership initiative. This program provides students, recent graduates, and veterans with immersion into the daily operations of the Executive Office of the President (EOP). Participants gain direct experience in federal policy, administrative strategy, and the mechanics of executive governance.
Positions Available
Placements occur across various departments within the EOP based on individual skill sets and departmental needs. Available tracks include:
Policy Offices
Domestic Policy Council, National Economic Council, and the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).
Operations & Strategy
Office of Cabinet Affairs, Office of Digital Strategy, Legislative Affairs, and Presidential Correspondence.
Administrative & Specialty
White House Photo Office, Office of the Staff Secretary, and the Office of the Vice President.
Locations
All positions are based on-site in Washington, D.C. Participants must manage personal housing and transportation arrangements within the metropolitan area for the duration of the term. No government-sponsored housing is provided.
Requirements
Strict adherence to federal eligibility standards is mandatory at the time of application:
- U.S. Citizenship: Exclusive to United States citizens.
- Age: Minimum of 18 years old by the designated program start date.
- Background Vetting: Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation and a mandatory drug test.
- Commitment: A full-time schedule is expected, typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
Qualifications
